Décolletage

Swiss-type, named for the watch.

A sliding headstock feeds bar through a guide bushing. The cut happens a few millimetres from the support, so slender parts do not whip. That is the whole trick — and why a Swiss cell is the wrong machine for a fat chucking job and the right one for a long, close pin.

The stock moves

Headstock slides. Tool stays close to the bushing face. Length-to-diameter that would chatter on a conventional lathe holds still.

One setup

Live tooling and a sub-spindle put cross holes, slots, and back work on the same traveler. Secondary ops only when the print actually needs them.

The print still wins

We quote Swiss-type work from your drawing. We do not invent a machine list or a tolerance we have not proven on your part.

Capability, not a machine brochure. If the print fits the cell, we quote it. If it does not, we say so before you wait.

CNC milling

3-axis and 5-axis vertical work — pockets, profiles, fixtures, and prismatic parts held to the print.

CNC turning

Chucking and mill-turn for shafts, bushings, fittings, and parts that start round and stay honest.

Swiss / small-diameter

Close work on small diameters where a conventional chucking lathe is the wrong tool.

Prototype and first article

Lot of one is a real order. First-article inspection against the callouts you care about.

Production lots

Repeatable programs once the process is proven — not a different shop the second time you order.

DFM with the quote

If a radius, stock, or tolerance will burn money without helping the function, it shows up on the quote — not after the PO.

Customer-supplied material is welcome when certs travel with the bar. Exotic or mill-run items are quoted as specials — we do not pretend every alloy sits on the rack.

Inspection before the box is taped

Every lot is checked against the print. A formal quality management system is being stood up with the shop. Takal Precision Machining does not claim ISO 9001, AS9100, or ITAR registration on this site.

  • Material Mill certs when the stock is bought to spec, or when you send them with consigned bar

About

A Minnesota shop with the print on the bench

Takal Precision Machining L.L.C. is a Minnesota limited liability company organized on 7 September 2026 (Minnesota file number 1666097800023). We exist to quote and cut parts for engineers who are tired of waiting on a queue they cannot see.

The registered office on file with the Minnesota Secretary of State is a statutory address, not the production floor. The facility street address is not published on this site yet. We work from the Minneapolis–Saint Paul metro.

FAQ

Questions we get with the print

What is the minimum order quantity?

One. Prototype of a single piece is a real RFQ. Production pricing is quoted separately once the process is proven.

What files do you need?

A PDF print with tolerances and a STEP of the solid. DXF for 2D profiles when that is the whole job. If a note on the print conflicts with the model, the print wins unless you tell us otherwise in writing.

Are you ISO 9001 or AS9100 certified?

No. We do not claim ISO 9001, AS9100, NADCAP, or ITAR registration. Inspection is to the print. If your program requires a listed certification, say so on the RFQ so we can decline early rather than stretch the truth.

Do you sign NDAs?

Yes. Send the agreement with the RFQ. We do not use uploaded files for anything except quoting and, if awarded, making the parts.

What are typical lead times?

Quoted per job. We do not publish a blanket turnaround. If a date is load-bearing, put it on the RFQ.

Can you work from a napkin sketch?

We can talk. We quote from a print. If you need the print drawn, say so — that is a different line on the quote.
